A Milestone for Wave Magazine

Welcome to Issue 50 of Wave Magazine, a real milestone moment for us and for the Waverley community! What started as a simple idea has grown into something we’re incredibly proud of, and it’s been a genuine pleasure to document the people, places, and progress of Waverley over the years.

To mark the occasion, we’ve put together a special feature looking back at our 50 issues, revisiting some of the stories, milestones, and moments that have shaped the community along the way. It’s a reminder of just how far Waverley has come, and how much there is to celebrate.

Recently, I had the opportunity to join Paulette Edwards on BBC Radio Sheffield to talk about life at Waverley and the journey of Wave Magazine. It was a brilliant experience and a chance to reflect on what makes this area so special. A big thank you to Paulette and the team for such a warm welcome. There were some fantastic Waverley-centric guests on the show, too, all playing their part in making Waverley the active and thriving community it is today. If you’d like to listen back, you can do so on the BBC Sounds here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m002sb30

As always, this issue is packed with local updates, including progress on the new medical centre, the planned opening of the first phase of Highwall Park, the launch of the Waverley Community Hub, plans for the 2026 Waverley Fun Day, and a fantastic fundraising effort by a local resident supporting Alzheimer’s Society.

Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who has supported Wave over the past 50 issues, from contributors and advertisers to readers and the wider community. Your support is what keeps this going, and we’re excited for what comes next.
