Hub progress
Work is underway to fit out the Community Hub ready for use later this year. The walls are up and are in the process of being plastered, cabling is in progress and sanitaryware is being fitted. It’s feeling real now!
Once the fit-out work is complete furniture and equipment will be moved in, and the Hub will be prepared for opening.
When we are closer to opening, we’ll share more information about when you can come and have a look, and how bookings can be made. In the meantime, we’re keeping our website updated with pictures and progress reports – https://www.waverley-cc.gov.uk/community-centre-build
Christmas
Harworth are kindly providing us with a tree in Central Park, as usual, and residents are invited to come along and help decorate it on Saturday 29th November at 11am.
They are also providing a tree at Olive Lane, and this is where we are going to hold our Christmas event on Saturday 6th December 4:30 – 6:30pm.
There will be a selection of food and drinks vendors as well as those based on Olive Lane, the Woodhouse Prize Band will be playing some festive tunes plus Santa and Elf on the Shelf will be coming along to entertain the children.
Mark the dates in your diary and watch out for further information on our website and Facebook page.
Waverley Dash
Over 80 runners participated in this event on a warm September day with Jack Webb crossing the finish line first in an impressive 36 minutes and 27 seconds. Congratulations to the Handsworth Road Hogs and everyone involved in organising this event which received great feedback from participants. Watch out for more information about next year’s event!

Grit Bins and Snow Wardens
During the winter months, Rotherham Council (RMBC) will grit Highfield Lane and Stephenson Way. These roads are gritted because they are part of the bus route. Harworth have already arranged for the grit bins across Waverley to be filled ready for residents to access when necessary.
RMBC welcome residents to become volunteer snow wardens. They provide volunteers with the equipment and grit. Please see https://www.rotherham.gov.uk/winter-roads/snow-warden for more information if you’re interested.
