So surely by now you’ve gathered that I like nothing more than an unconventional Christmas song to upset the Apple cart of more traditional (predictable) songs! Not one to disappoint, here are five top picks that will not disappoint…
Louis Armstrong – Christmas Night In Harlem
You can literally feel the snow crunch beneath your feet on this snappy festive curio. It’s also a
great reminder of what a legend Louis Armstrong is.
Chicago – Let It Snow (Live)
Best known these days for their punishing tour schedule and superfluous Christmas records.
Here they combine the two to great effect.
Kate Bush – Among Angels
More Wintery than Christmassy as such. This is a haunting classic that changes the pace
somewhat. From her 2011 record ‘50 Words For Snow’.
Terrovision- Santa Never Came
Yet another Christmas number from Terrorvision. This time it’s a festive delivery of dark
humour. The record sleeve is a bit of a heartbreaker though.
Paul Dianno & Paul Samson – Another Rock n Roll Christmas
A metal rework of the well known song. Also a great tribute to the recently passed Iron Maiden
legend Paul Dianno, lead singer on their first two albums.
