Aiming to transform lives, a mother-and-daughter duo uses food, healing, and holistic living to inspire change.
Founded in 2020 during the pandemic, The Joy of Nutrition was born from Annie Davies and her mother Leigh’s personal journey to take control of their health and inspire others to do the same. What began as a lifestyle change evolved into a community-focused business offering raw food products, wellness retreats, and holistic education.
On starting the business, Annie said, “Covid made us rethink our health. We explored sustainable alternatives to look after ourselves better and wanted to help our community do the same without adding pressure to the NHS.
We wanted to help our local communities take more responsibility for their health through better food and non-invasive practices. That’s how the business began.”
Operating across South Yorkshire and Wakefield, The Joy of Nutrition offers a unique blend of services. Annie explains “Our wellness retreats help people disconnect from distractions and reconnect with their health.”
Their online store and presence at local markets allow them to engage directly with the community, not just to sell, but to also educate and inspire.
“We offer an all-round lifestyle transformation, working on a soul level to address personal trauma, mental health, and relationships.”
The business is rooted in community values. They work with local farmers to redistribute excess produce, support not-for-profit organisations, and volunteer with initiatives.
Support from Rotherham Investment and Development Office (RiDO) has played a key role in their business development. Through RiDO’s Launchpad programme, they accessed free support through business workshops, mentoring, and a small grant that helped them invest in essential equipment.
On the support from Launchpad, Annie said, “RIDO gave us so much confidence. We increased our social media engagement, bought machinery we couldn’t afford ourselves, and learned how to scale our business. The focus it gave us was invaluable.”
