A lookback on 2023 and forward to 2024

The WCC have made progress with and supported many projects over the last year, here are some highlights:

  • The speed watch campaign and support for white lines at junctions (Harworth have marked the roads they are able to, with the rest now owned by different builders)
  • The design and installation of the memorial totem
  • Helping with and taking part in events such as Bike Track Open Day, Summer Event, Remembrance Sunday, Christmas Light Switch On, Community Litter Picks and more
  • Conversations with Harworth about Highwall Park, including the right play equipment for varying age group
  • The support for additional school places in personal and official capacities
  • Our dig and chat sessions in the community garden
  • Funding towards supporting families with activities for their newborns
  • Support for bus routes and public transport for the Waverley community
  • Defibrillator familiarisation training
  • Regularly attending meetings with RMBC, Harworth, The Land Trust and more, plus our 23 council meetings

I want to thank our WCC members (who all do this in their free time, without being paid) for their work, some of it visible and sometimes behind the scenes. They share the one goal of improving and supporting Waverley.

A special mention to our Waverley Events Team for their hard work including our Summer Event, Advent Windows and Christmas Light Switch On and last but not least, thank you to Waverley residents for their involvement in all of the above and more.

The Community Centre
The Waverley residents requested this, so plans were put in place and it now must be delivered. We understand concern around costs, and have worked hard to budget. We will be working to try and secure funding as soon as we are able to for future years.

Keeping In Touch
We held virtual and in person consultation meetings for the Community Centre, publish all meeting notes on our website and link via the Facebook page, and we love it when residents attend our meetings. We will take an action to look at our comms and collating information for residents.

Here’s to 2024, and all the positives we can all bring to the Waverley community.

Rachel Graham, Clerk

Over the coming years, the Waverley development will be home to around 4,000 properties plus further commercial and retail development, so as Waverley grows, so can your business!
