”Summer’s here and the time is right, for dancing in the street…” Well yes. But for a little more expenditure, you could get a LOT more fun, as this run down of the summers hottest local festivals will attest! Paaaartay!
Tramlines, Sheffield
They’re back! The Blossoms, Pale Waves, Richard Ashcroft and The Sugababes are amongst the bigger names this year, but there is a goodly smattering of medium sized young bloomers to enjoy too. Hillsborough Park has never sounded so good.
YNOT, Derbyshire
A quite staggering line up this year from the Pikehall based YNOT. Why not indeed, with Kate Nash, KT Tunstall and disco diva Sophie Ellis Bexter alongside Everything Everything, Royal Blood and the Modfather himself: Paul Weller. Wowsers!
Askern Music Fest, Doncaster
Anyone who remembers last year’s summer extravaganza will be delighted to return this year to Doncaster’s hidden gem. A well curated bill, plus even more local talent to enjoy.
Bloodstock, Derbyshire
This is not only nearby, but to any fans of Metal this is a blistering line up! Bloodstock just goes from strength to strength and alongside legends such as Megadeth, Anthrax, Sepultura and Meshuggah; there are the best of the local up and comers too. Watch out Wacken!
Bassfest 2023, Sheffield
Hot on the heels of last year’s success, Don Valley is the host again to this literally jammed line up of multi-genre electronica from Happy House to Drum and Bass. There is something for everyone in clubland and a great chance to enjoy DJ sets from the established through to the next big thing.
Stainsby Festival, Derbyshire
Different pace? Different place. Stainsby near Chesterfield is the venue to one of the summers sumptuous settings for folk and roots music. The sublime Judy Dunlop and the evergreen legend that is George Borowski (yes, ‘guitar George’ from Sultans of Swing) are both worth the entrance fee alone.
