As the night’s start to draw in it’s almost time for my children’s favourite time of the year, Halloween (yes, they prefer this even to Christmas)! This also means a busy time for events in Waverley, as we wrap up the annual Scarecrow Festival and start planning for Halloween and beyond.

On behalf of the Waverley Events team, they are on the look out for new volunteers to assist with forthcoming events, in particular the Christmas Tree Light Switch-On, which is taking place on Sunday 4th December. There’s no set time commitment, and if you have a particular set of skills you could offer to the team, they would be most grateful (I’m sure there will be a few glasses of Mulled Wine in it for you!) You can see their latest round up on page 10 in this issue.

If you’re wondering what the building work is on the other side of the Winter Green roundabout, this is the next phase of development on the AMP. We have an indicative CGI in our update from magazine sponsor, Harworth to help you visualise this on page 4.

On pages 8 and 9, we have the latest update from Waverley Community Council, who have been asked a lot of questions recently that they are now able to clarify.

To get you in the mood for Halloween, we have a spooky feel to our reviews section, with some top class horror picks from our resident film critic, Ian Moreno-Melgar, and musologist, Jim Epton. Something for the dark nights in?

Children of Waverley Junior Academy have been busy learning about fusion energy with our neighbour from the AMP, the UK Atomic Energy Authority – can you spot your children in the photo on page 24?

As Wave is a community magazine, we want to ensure that we’re bringing you news from as many groups as we can. If you have any news you would like to share for any groups, projects, or initiatives you are involved in please email us on brendan@wavemagazine.co.uk!
