In a world full of scrolling, skipping and short attention spans, businesses are constantly competing to stay visible. Print advertising offers something incredibly valuable: allowing you to build trust, credibility and long-lasting visibility. And this is where Wave Magazine advertising shines for local businesses.

Wave Magazine is a community-focused publication that is delivered directly to homes and businesses across Waverley and the Advanced Manufacturing Park. Wave helps local businesses connect with a highly targeted audience in a way that feels genuine and engaging.

So, why choose Wave Magazine for your local business?

A Local Audience of over 2,500 That Actually Sees Your Brand

One of the biggest challenges with online advertising methods is how quickly content disappears. Social media posts can be missed within minutes, while digital adverts are often skipped or ignored altogether.

Instead, partnering with Wave Magazine captures a lasting presence for your brand. A feature in Wave Magazine reaches over 2,500 readers per issue, helping businesses stay visible in homes, offices and waiting areas for weeks rather than seconds.

But this doesn’t mean you don’t have digital reach; every issue is available online and distributed directly into 2,500 email inboxes and is promoted across Waverley social media channels

By choosing to advertise with Wave Magazine, your business gains print and digital exposure that gives businesses multiple touchpoints with the same audience.

Join Local Advertising Trusted by over 150 businesses

People naturally engage differently with print. The written word carries an authority and credibility that is difficult to recreate in the fast-paced world of online advertising.

Features in a professionally produced community magazine can reinforce credibility and make your business feel more established in the local community, becoming part of the wider conversation happening within the local area.

Wave Magazine has already worked with over 150 local businesses across a wide range of industries, helping companies raise awareness, promote services and connect with new customers. With an advertiser retention rate of over 80%, Wave Magazine has built a reputation for quality advertising that lasts. Could you be next?

With Wave Magazine, You Get So Much more

Working with Wave Magazine means partnering with someone who is genuinely invested in your business’s reputation. Wave Magazine advertising is about so much more than your logo on a page.

That is why Wave Magazine also offers:

Free artwork design for advert creation

Discounts for block bookings

Promotion across social media and digital channels

Flexible advertising options for businesses of all sizes

We help hundreds of smaller businesses gain access to professional advert design that removes the stress of creating artwork themselves.

Combining Print and Digital Marketing

No advert is an island, and the strongest advertising methods strengthen their results further by combining digital and print channels. Wave Magazine offers local business advertising that combines print and website content, offering repeated exposure across multiple channels to improve brand awareness and customer recall over time.

Ready to Advertise Your Business?
Advertising local businesses with Wave Magazine comes in many shapes and sizes, and can be tailored to suit your goals, audience and budget.

If you are looking for a more creative way to attract local customers in Waverley, Rotherham and the surrounding Sheffield area, advertorial features could be a great option for your business.

But what does advertorial mean, and how can advertorials in magazines help local businesses stand out?

What is an advertorial?

An advertorial is a form of advertising that is written in the style of editorial content.

Unlike a traditional advert, which is often short, visual and sales-led, an advertorial gives your business space to tell a story, explain your services, answer common customer questions and build trust with readers.

Advertorials are commonly used in magazines, newspapers and online publications to promote a brand, product or service in a more informative and engaging way.

They bridge the gap between advertising and editorial content, giving businesses the opportunity to promote themselves in a format that feels useful, familiar and trustworthy to the reader.

For local businesses, advertorials in magazines can be especially effective because they allow you to connect with people in your area while sharing more detail than a standard advert would allow.

Benefits of advertorial features in Wave Magazine

Marketing moves quickly, and getting the balance right between content and promotion is not always easy.

If you are considering how advertorials could support your local business, there are several key benefits for you to consider, including:

Build trust and credibility through editorial-style content

Engage audiences without interruptive advertising

Educate potential customers while promoting your services
Position your business as an expert in your field

Generate higher quality leads from informed readers

Tips for Writing Your Waverley Local Business Advertorial

1. Know your audience

One of the biggest advantages of advertising local businesses with Wave Magazine is the direct line it offers to the heart of our community. Wave Magazine reaches over 2,500 residents and businesses in the Waverley area, in Rotherham. This makes Wave a fantastic platform for reaching local customers. When writing your advertorial article, consider how your product or service fits into their world.

2. Be creative, but stay relevant

This is where your brand can shine through. Readers value the honesty, transparency, and value that advertorials offer. At Wave Magazine, we have built a longstanding trust with our audience through over 8 years of publications, making our magazine a community-centric platform for local businesses to share their stories and showcase how their product or service adds value.

3. Use visuals to support your message

A compelling advertorial article is a great way to attract new customers, but what attracts them to your article? Images and artwork are a great way to make an advertorial stand out to Waverley customers. You can use relevant, clear and branded artwork to break up the text, capture interest and reinforce your message

For advertisers partnering with Wave Magazine, we offer artwork services with the expert design services of Dialled In Agency. If this is something you would like to discuss for your placement, get in touch to discuss your image and artwork needs for your placement in the magazine.

4. Include a clear call to action.

Wave Magazine is all about advertising local businesses, and we want to help connect you with customers who need your services or products. Your advertorial should guide the reader towards your business.

Whether that is visiting your website, getting in touch, or making an enquiry, your call to action should feel like a natural continuation of the article. Make sure to include a contact number, website, or business address to welcome your new customers!

Boston Castle and Moorgate Cemetery

Little known and seldom bothered are these two hidden gems and they’re right next to each other. Okay, Boston Castle is no National Trust property, but the views across our region are well worth writing home about. Combine that with the stark and stony beauty of Moorgate Cemetery and you have two places in which to repose and reflect, far from the hubbub of the town centre.

Positive Steps Rotherham Limited officially launched in early 2025, offering professional, compassionate mental health support for adults across Rotherham and South Yorkshire. Founded by Nicola Cameron, and later joined by business partner Gemma Wheeler, the service is built on lived experience and a genuine commitment to helping others.

Nicola’s journey into mental health care was shaped by personal challenges. She witnessed the effects of mental illness within her family and experienced her own struggles—including physical health issues in her twenties and a PTSD diagnosis in her thirties. A turning point came when she sought trauma therapy, which inspired her transition from social care work into business ownership.

“Having supported family and experienced mental health issues myself, I saw a clear need for more tailored support in the community,” Nicola explained.

Gemma and Nicola previously worked together as Support Workers and shared a passion for building meaningful relationships with clients. “What matters most is getting to know people and helping them work toward their version of a better life,” said Nicola. “We’ve both been there—our lived experience drives us to support people with empathy and understanding.”

The pair believe what sets Positive Steps apart is their ability to offer authentic, person-centred care. This isn’t just a job—it’s a heartfelt commitment to making a difference.

Nicola also credits Rotherham Launchpad with helping her turn her vision into a reality. “As someone new to business, I needed guidance on where to start. The one-to-one support from RIDO was fantastic. They were approachable, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping us succeed.”

She encourages others to explore the free support available: “Absolutely go for it. The advice, tools, and encouragement they offer are invaluable.”

This mission, should we choose to accept it, is to rank all of the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE films, including the latest, which is in cinemas right now.

To help remind which film is which, each title comes with a sub-title, starting from the best, down to the not-so-great at all.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE FALLOUT (M:I6)

AKA: the one where Henry Cavill reloads his arms and Cruise breaks his ankle for real but carries on filming.

The sixth in the series is the best. It nails the formulaic expectations of the series, alongside shocks and twists. The plot is tight and clear, the set-pieces frequent and constantly thrilling and the stakes are cleverly framed, given that they’re personal to our protagonist Ethan Hunt, and the world-at-large. It also features the best Cruise running scene, the best bike chase (a staple for the series) and probably the best fight scenes. Should’ve won some Oscars.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE ROGUE NATION (M:I5)

AKA: the one where he hung off the side of an airplane in a suit.

If FALLOUT is the best of the series, ROGUE NATION is the film where the formula for the series is so well developed that the whole film feels confident and bold. The opening scene of Ethan Hunt holding onto the side of a cargo plane as it takes off, not immediately cutting away to show that Cruise genuinely was on the side of an actual airplane taking off, demonstrates how the rest of the film will be-ambitious, thrilling and constantly pushing the envelope. It introduces new, memorable characters in exciting ways and plays with audience reactions from first frame until the last.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE (M:I1)

AKA: the one with the wire stunt that started it all.

Watching this now is such a different experience to the recent films. It’s also nearly 30 years old and made when spy/espionage films were much smaller in scope. Directed by storied director Brian DePalma, known for his artistic approach to visual storytelling, it also looks very different to many of the films in the series. Some of the technology used means that watching now makes the film feel a bit strange, but the overall narrative is paced masterfully and with a constant stream of twists and turns means that you have to be dutifully watching (no two-screening here please!) for the final explanation to not only make sense but have the emotional impact that the film deserves.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE DEAD RECKONING/FINAL RECKONING (M:I7 and M:I8)

AKA the one where he jumped off a mountain on a bike and AKA the one currently in cinemas that might end it all.

In time, these two will be further down in the list, or at least FINAL RECKONING will be, but fresh off of seeing the latest film, recency bias influences the placing here. It’s important to know that these two films, over 5 hours in total, were conceived as one long film, so as you watch the latest you’ll see why there are so many call-backs to the “first part”. But the second is just too long-the first part of the film is just exposition and it doesn’t really start until 25 minutes in. But there’s much to enjoy after-the submarine sequence was an extraordinary experience in the local IMAX screen. Part 1, called DEAD RECKONING, is the better of the 2 films though. Much pacier, more thrilling and with some incredible stunts, it’s just a shame that the marketing of the film showed so much of what was to come.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE GHOST PROTOCOL (M:I4)

AKA: the one with the Burj Khalifa.

This is why putting this list together is so tough: this is a brilliant action film. The scene on/in/outside of, of the Burj Khalifa is legendary. Plus, there’s so more to enjoy, highlights being a stealthy robbery in Saint Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow using a portable hologram and a scene in Mumbai that has echoes of the first M:I film. Just don’t expect as many memorable scenes or characters compared to other films in the franchise.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 3

AKA: the one with the best villain.

It feels harsh putting this one here, as it’s great fun. It’s a real bridge between the absurd nonsense that M:I2 is, and the template-setting MI:4, but it’s still just not as engaging as say, 4, or 5. The set-pieces are huge (base-jumping in Shanghai, an absurd fight with jets on a bridge), and probably has the second-best running scene in the whole franchise (the near-uninterrupted take of Cruise running for a couple of minutes whilst screaming in Cantonese is excellent), but the real highlight is the villain, played by the much-missed, and prodigiously talented, Philip Seymour Hoffman. He’s menacing and malevolent, charismatic and magnetic. Most franchises would kill for a film this good-in this franchise it’s one of the weaker ones.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 2

AKA: the one that no one likes.

We’ll just get this out of the way here: it’s fine. As an action film, as a John Woo film, it’s fine. It’s just not shot in the way that the rest of the films are, and it just feels really generic as a result. Some of the narrative beats are pretty typical for the genre, but it feels much more of a John Woo film than it does a M:I film. Opening with a Limp Bizkit song, rock climbing and exploding sunglasses is pretty great though.

Ian Moreno-Melgar has authored film text books and consults on film education to the British Film Institute. Just not on MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE films though, which is probably why he was not invited to the recent Tom Cruise Q&A unfortunately.

Having reviewed records from the years 1980 and 1990 from within my short life, it would appear that the year 2000 is next. I can’t believe it crept up a mere 25 years ago! It’s amazing I can remember anything that far back, but here goes anyway!

The Corrs – In Blue

Not as huge as the titanic sophomore release ‘Talk On Corners’, In Blue was nonetheless a hugely satisfying record. Producer Mutt Lange leant his not insignificant weight to ensure a wonderful consistency so mega hits like ‘Breathless’ had as much freshness as the plentiful deeper cuts.

Motörhead – We Are Motörhead

In my mind, this album marked the beginning of a 15 year classic stretch. Motörhead Mark 3, so to speak. Not just a solid line up that remained until the end in 2015, but a sonic celebration where they found their strengths and played to them. A band that often stuck to their guns, whilst simultaneously sounding like nobody else.

Jurassic 5 – Quality Control

The 90’s were an unparalleled decade in the history of Hip-Hop. J5 never tried too hard to place themselves in the present anyway. Maybe that’s why this record sounds like it could have been made in any year of Rap’s past. Cut Chemist and DJ Nu-Mark help this album sound fun and the vastly underrated Chali 2na brings commentary with depth and just makes me smile.

Steely Dan – Two Against Nature

Even if this had been a dud, the Dan had nothing to prove. Instead they came out of the gates with an album choc full of greatness. I remember almost wearing out my copy, which not only reminded the world that middle aged muso’s could be cool, but also significant enough to win 3 Grammy’s including best album, much to Eminem’s frustration.

Tucked away in the heart of Rotherham town centre, Rotherham Opportunities College (ROC) is quietly transforming lives. A specialist education provider for young adults aged 16–25 with learning disabilities and/or autism, the college is celebrating a glowing OFSTED report and the continued success of its student-run ROC Café at Ulley Country Park.

With a focus on personalised learning, ROC equips its students with the skills they need to lead more independent and fulfilling lives. The college delivers tailored education programmes through six learning pathways, covering everything from independent living and work experience to enterprise and volunteering. This unique, holistic approach recently earned ROC an overall Good OFSTED rating—with Outstanding marks in personal development and behaviour.

“Students at Rotherham Opportunities College are thriving in a calm, caring learning environment,” said inspectors, who noted how ROC’s inclusive approach helps learners build confidence, gain practical skills, and even secure paid employment through supported internships.

A standout example of this approach in action is the ROC Café, a thriving social enterprise set up in partnership with Rotherham Council at Ulley Country Park. Open every Tuesday and Thursday, the café is staffed by students under the guidance of experienced professionals. Since opening in 2023, over 40 learners have gained experience in customer service, food preparation, and handling money.

“Many of our students say their time at the ROC Café is the highlight of their week,” says Kim Peech, who leads external relationships at the college. “It’s not just about making tea and toast—it’s about building self-esteem, confidence, and workplace skills in a real-world setting. And the feedback from the public has been incredible.”

ROC is keen to build stronger links with the wider Rotherham business community, not just to raise awareness of its work but to create new opportunities for its students. That might include offering workplace visits, supported internships, mentoring, or even fundraising partnerships.

“We know there are lots of brilliant employers across Rotherham who would love to get involved, but maybe don’t know where to start,” says Kim. “We’d love to hear from businesses of all sizes who want to make a difference. Whether it’s hosting a student for a day or helping us with our next fundraising event, every connection counts.”

With a five-star hygiene rating and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, the ROC Café is a perfect example of how inclusive education and community partnerships can go hand-in-hand. And with exciting new projects in the pipeline, Rotherham Opportunities College is a local gem with a bright future.
