The Waverley Community Council has been working hard across the area, often in ways that aren’t immediately visible but make a real difference to daily life. Over the past year, we’ve delivered two major community events — the June Summer Event and the Christmas light switch‑on — both held for the first time at Olive Lane and free for residents to enjoy.

We’ve welcomed Open Arms into the new Community Hub, taken part in the Advent Calendar activities, and continued lobbying for a much‑needed pharmacy at Olive Lane. We also hosted the annual Waverley “Great British” litter pick, and our support for local groups has continued throughout the year, including the Buds at the Community Garden and funding for Adventuring Angels to run forest school sessions during the October half term and Christmas period.

Behind the scenes, we’ve held regular meetings with RMBC, Harworth, the Land Trust, Active Travel and other partners ensure Waverley’s needs are consistently represented.

One of our biggest milestones has been progressing the delivery of the new community centre. We’ve now completed a third round of staff recruitment and are hopeful that we will be able to open the doors very soon.

Precept 2026-2027

Waverley Community Council has agreed its precept for the 2026–27 financial year following its meeting in January 2026.

Last year, the Council set a zero precept and committed to giving residents an early indication of future requirements. At that time, several elements of the Community Centre project were still uncertain, and the estimated amount for a Band D household was expected to be around £100 per year.

Following updated financial information and confirmation of Community Centre running cost projections, the Council has now approved a precept request of £121,508.90 which has been submitted to Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.

This precept equates to £66.07 per year for a Band D dwelling — approximately £5.51 per month.

The Council remains committed to transparency and responsible financial planning as it continues to support residents, groups and community facilities.

More information about what a precept is, can be found on our website here: https://www.waverley-cc.gov.uk/precept

Annual Resident’s Meeting

Each year, Waverley Community Council hosts the Annual Residents’ Meeting. This year’s event will take place on Thursday 19th March, from 7:00pm to 8:30pm.

It will be an informal drop‑in session where you can speak directly with representatives from the organisations that work with and support our community. Keep an eye on our website for updates on who will be attending.
