Marriott hotel at Waverley

As residents will be aware, construction of the new Marriott hotel at Waverley has been stalled over the last year.

While Harworth is the master developer of Waverley, we have not been leading on the development of this hotel.  It is instead being constructed by another developer – Stapleford Ventures – which bought the piece of land where the hotel is situated from Harworth in 2021.

We have been in discussion with Stapleford Ventures in recent months and are pleased to report that it has now resumed construction of the hotel.

While exact timings for the hotel’s opening are still to be confirmed, it will likely be open in the second half of this year.  We know the community will be looking forward to this and will continue to keep residents informed.

Olive Lane is on its way

Harworth is now completing its construction of Olive Lane, and occupiers will soon commence fitting out their units ahead of opening in the coming months.

Joining Tesco and the community centre will be Specsavers, Little Olives Nursery, Karobar Indian restaurant and Hall Court Vets.

We know residents will be looking forward to making use of these amenities and enjoying all that Olive Lane has to offer as a high street and community hub.

The new medical centre has now been built and will be open for use by residents this summer, subject to the NHS’ programme.  Further updates will be posted at wearewaverley.com/progress.

Community Support Fund

We are proud to have awarded funding from the 2024 Harworth Communities Fund to the Waverley Wanderers FC, Rotherham Hockey Club, and Waverley Buds Community Garden group.

Thanks to the success of the scheme last year, we are reopening to bids up to £3,000 from local community projects in and around Waverley.  Scan the QR code to apply.

Road safety in the Winter months

In the cold weather we’ve been experiencing, residents should be aware there are yellow grit boxes throughout Waverley, which were topped up by Harworth in recent months.

These are located at the top of Tideswell Walk, corner of Cressbrook Road with Stephenson Way, end of Rowsley Drive, Ashbourne Way (junction with Calver Way), one on Ashford Court, Waverley Walk, Autumn Fields and the bottom of Highfield Lane, near the traffic lights.

The roads which are a part of the bus route will be gritted by Rotherham Council, alongside Highfield Land and Stephenson Way, while Lescar Road will be gritted by Harworth.

While active travel is always encouraged on site, we also want to remind residents to use lights on their bikes, and wear pale or reflective clothes when cycling or walking around the community in the darker months – remember, be bright, be seen.
