Forest fun continues

In October, Harworth supported the delivery of an additional two forest school sessions following the overwhelming success of the events held in the summer, and their popularity continued!

The sessions were run by Adventuring Angels, a social enterprise, and provided opportunities for families to practice building dens, cooking on an open fire, and taking part in arts and crafts in nature.

It was great to see the community coming together to enjoy the woodland that surrounds Waverley and we’re pleased that many of you have been able experience the sessions in recent months.

Olive Lane nears completion

We’re pleased to say that in December, most of the buildings at Olive Lane will be completed and ready for occupation.

We have already announced the news that Tesco will be opening a store here, and we’ll be able to confirm more occupiers as we move towards the end of the year.

We understand the importance of having a pharmacy at Olive Lane, especially as there will be a new medical centre at Waverley.  The Olive Lane Pharmacy has put forward plans to open a store here and needs to secure an NHS license to operate to do so.  It is currently gathering evidence for this, and Harworth encourages all residents to fill out the survey at bit.ly/OLPharmacy to support this.

What’s happening at the AMP?

We wanted to provide an update on some of the exciting work happening at the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP).

The park is an innovation cluster and is home to leading local, national and international businesses and organisations working across the advanced manufacturing space – including McLaren, Boeing, Rolls Royce and the UK Atomic Energy Authority.

Many of these businesses have joined forces with Waverley Junior Academy over the last few years to give pupils the chance to learn more about what happens at the AMP.

Those who live and work in Waverley will know the University of Sheffield’s AMRC plays a huge role in the success of the AMP.   The centre works with organisations of all sizes – from SMEs through to large-scale manufacturers – to help them develop solutions for advanced manufacturing.  The AMRC Training Centre is also equipping the workforce of today and tomorrow with the skills needed to support the advanced manufacturing industry.

In recent months you may have spotted in the news that Harworth has welcomed new occupiers to the AMP including global tech firm Insight and aerospace supplier Technicut as well as creating additional space for life sciences company Calibre Scientific.  They join firms including Sheffield-founded engineering firm X-Cel Superturn, a manufacturer of clothing for strength athletes, SBD Apparel, and Xeros Technology which develops sustainable technologies to reduce the environmental impact of laundry.

With many of the people working at the AMP living at Waverley or in the local area, it has become a cornerstone of the community.  We hope you are as proud of it as we are.

Community Support Fund closes soon!

There is just a month left to get in your application for the Harworth Community Support Fund, which allows residents of Waverley to bid for financial support for community activities and initiatives.

Whether it is sponsorship for a local sports team, or equipment for a social club, fill out the application at bit.ly/HarworthCSF, before the fund closes at the end of December.  The maximum bid value is £3000.

Over the coming years, the Waverley development will be home to around 4,000 properties plus further commercial and retail development, so as Waverley grows, so can your business!
